Hi, this is Mayor Justin Elicker with an important message for New Haven residents regarding the City’s upcoming Fourth of July fireworks celebration. Por favor espere para escuchar este mensaje en español.
This Monday, July 4th, the City of New Haven will be having its annual Fourth of July fireworks display. This should be a wonderful evening for New Haven residents to come together and celebrate our nation’s independence. The fireworks will be set off atop East Rock Park around 9 pm and will last about 30 minutes. The official viewing site is the Wilbur Cross High School athletic field, but you can see the fireworks from many locations around the City. A good rule of thumb is if you can see the summit of East Rock Park, you’ll see the fireworks! For those planning on going to Wilbur Cross, we recommend you arrive early in the evening to ensure you find parking.
Finally, a note on safety: please leave the fireworks to the professionals. Fireworks are dangerous and can result in serious injury. Only sparklers and fountain fireworks are permitted by those 16 years of age or older – all other fireworks are illegal.
Thank you for your cooperation and I hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!
Hi, this is Mayor Justin Elicker with an important message for East Rock residents regarding New Haven’s upcoming Fourth of July fireworks celebration and related parking restrictions that day. Por favor espere para escuchar este mensaje en español.
This Monday, July 4th, the City of New Haven will be having its annual Fourth of July fireworks display with the official viewing site at the Wilbur Cross High School athletic field. This should be a wonderful evening for New Haven residents to come together and celebrate our nation’s independence. We anticipate crowds arriving on site beginning around 6 pm and the fireworks will begin shortly after 9 pm and last for about 30 minutes.
With large crowds expected, there will be some related parking restrictions in place to secure the fireworks launch zone and to ensure that attendees can safely and smoothly return home after the event. To this end, “No Parking” restrictions will begin on July 4th starting at 5pm -- enforced by towing – on the following streets:
· Mitchell Drive between Willow Street and Orange Street
· State Street between Willow Street and Lawrence Street
· English Drive between Rock Street and Farnam Drive
· Orange Street between Mitchell Drive and English Drive
Notices and no parking signs will be posted in advance.
Thank you for your cooperation and I hope you and your family have a safe and wonderful holiday weekend!
