prevail有两个常见含义，一个是“（态度、风俗）获胜”，一个是“流行”，其中“流行”用得比较多，现主要针对“获胜”含义进行深入学习，其英英释义“to defeat an opponent especially in a long or difficult contest, often used figuratively”，可以替换“win”和“triumph”，从英英释义看出，prevail 本身表示“打败一个对手”，不过也常以比喻用法出现，此时主语一般是一些抽象的名词。

In the struggle for AI supremacy, China will prevail. 《经济学人》在书评板块评价李开复先生的新书 AI Superpowers 时，在标题部分就用到了 prevail。
