本章描写三苏举家走长江水路再转陆路迁居东京的过程。随着三苏的船行，作者描绘了长江沿岸的风土人情，特别是三峡的壮丽景观。修建三峡工程仅就自然环境来说，简直是一场浩劫。当然我们再无缘看到那样风景秀丽文化遗产丰富的三峡了。
