校弦问题The Tuning Problem of the Gu

    大概三个月前,我问老师两个月能学会教弦吗?老师说可以的,但是我还是一直没有去学习

    About three months ago, I asked the teacher whether I could master the tuning skill within two months. My teacher said yes. However, I didn't do it.

    期间,我还纳闷,老师怎么只说要学习这个,但是从不教这个呢?从哪里开始动弦,我都没有头绪啊,靠自己怎么学?

    Sometimes I felt strange that why my teacher only required to learn it but never taught it. I don’t even know which string to tune first, how can I learn it on my own?

    较弦的原理是“同声相和”,不同弦的不同徽位能发出相同的声音。但是,必须确保有一条弦的音高是正确的,然后才能按“同声相和”的方法去较准其他弦。

    That the same sound can be produced by different parts of different strings is the principle of tuning the Gutin.

    However, before we start doing this, we have to make sure the pitch of one string is correct. Then we can tune other strings with this correct string as a standard.

    而我怎样确保这一正确弦的出现呢?

    How to find out the first correct string ?

    好难保证吧,我觉得这个操作比较抽象啊,都没有参照物。

    It is very hard, isn’t it? It is too abstract, because you have no reference.

    给你举个例子,你就明白了。

    You will understand the problem after I give you an example.

    中国传统音乐五音为宫、商、角、徵、羽。

    We have five notes of Chinese traditional music, they are gong,shang, jue, zhi, yu.

    F调,以第三弦为宫音,七条弦对应徽,羽,宫,商,角,微、羽,相当于sol、la 、do.re、mi、sol、la

    For mode F, the third string is for note Gong. The seven strings correspond to zhi, yu, gong, jue, zhi, yu, equivalent to Sol, Sa, Do, Re, Mi, Sol, La.

    而B调(紧五弦),紧了五弦之后,由一弦到七弦的音之间的关系变成了re mi sol la do re mi

    For mode B, after tighting the fifth string, from the 1st string to the 7th strings become Re, Mi, Sol, La, Do, Le, Mi.

    明白?不一起弹拨其他弦,你根本不会知道第七根弦究竟是发La还是Mi.

    You see ? You never know whether the seventh string is a La or a Mi until you pluck the other strings together.

    是不是跟薛定谔的猫一样让人迷惑?

    Is it as confusing as a Schrödinger's cat?

    上个月底,老师通知这个月考试,不能用任何辅助手段较琴,被逼解决这个问题。于是网上找视频学习。

    At the end of last month, I was informed of the Gutin examination arranged in this month. And was told that no tool is allowed to be used in tuning.

    So, I was forced to face the problem and have no choice but to learn it from some online videos.

    看起来很简单。

    It looked very simple from the online teaching.

    前期是,假定有一根弦是正确的。这样,我就没什么好纠结的了。

    But you have to assume that one string is correct. Then I have no questions.

    当第七根弦是正确的,然后我按下面这个顺序,逐根调弦。

    When the seventh string is correct, I tune the other strings one by one in the following order.

    七5---五4 七7---四5---二4 四4---六5 四7---一5 六7---三5---一4

    操作了四五次,能调准个八九不离十,上面这个同音高关系,我也背下了。

    I did quite well. After I had 4 to 5 trials I already remembered above tuning relationship between the strings.

    我也就理解了为什么老是不需要教这个,因为的确很简单。

    Now I understand why my teacher don’t teach it, because it is so easy.
