Lesson 9 a cold welcome
on wednesday evening, we went to the town hall.it was the last day of the year and a large crowd of people had gathered under the town hal clock. it would strike twelve in twenty minutes' time. fifteen minutes passed and then, at five to twelve, the clock stopped. the big minute hand did not move. we waited and waited , but nothing happened.suddenly someone shouted, it is two minutes past twelve. the clock has stopped. i looked at my watch. it was true. the big clock refused to welcome the new year. at that moment , everybody began to laugh and sing.

练习感悟：
看到@眼睛睁-榆林童鞋给我的点评说我好些单词读的不对，我又回头听了几遍我的录音，然后发现问题貌似有点严重。例如gather这个单词，我是在读课文之前先提前练习了这个单词的读法，并且把它的音标标在了单词的下面，可是我读课文的时候，还是读错了。仔细听的话，发现错误的地方还是蛮明显的，原因在于我读课文的时候，对应音标的读法，容易用力过猛，主要表现就是该半张嘴的地方、舌头轻抵下颚的地方等，嘴型张的过大，音读重了后舌头放的地方也不对。
在练习读音标的时候，我想我还需要提高读课文时的心理状态。
