    Marketing strategy for some companies concentrate on special discounts and offers to promote their products, for some they focus on reputation and image. Which do you think is more important?

    It is generally true that some companies focus on discounts and offers to increase their sales while some other companies concentrate their fame and image. Despite the fact that using discounts to promote the products may be essential sometimes, I still believe that reputation and image are more important for companies.

    It has to be admitted that companies could make more profit by offering special discounts to customers, and one argument in favour of this view can be that they can, to a certain extent, attract more customers and sell much more than that in the original price. For example, Chemist Warehouse is an Australian pharmacy shop which always sells cheap discounted products, A host of customers purchase in their shops since they claim their products are the cheapest nationwide.

    On the other hand, I still believe that focusing on discount cannot be long-term, and reputation and image for a company are more significant because images and reputation include keeping top quality of the products, excellent customer services and so on, these factors, can make a company more successful. As an illustration, Priceline is an Australian pharmacy shop, their price may be higher than other competitors, but they have great customer service, also, they ensure their products are variable and authentic, which contribute to the loyalty of customers. As a result, the image and reputation may be more attractive to customers, making companies have more profit in long-term.

    In conclusion, although focusing on discounts may boost their sales within short-term, the fame and images are more crucial. It is well advised that companies should focus on their reputation and image, which can easily have more loyal customers and make more profit in long-term.
