[M9] About Persistence

The following questions come from Li Xiaolai’s article 《为什么你总是“半途而废”》 and I offer my answers.

    1. While others often sigh that they just cannot acquire it and cannot keep on doing it, is there anything that you feel is interesting and effortless when you do it?

Well, maybe to a large number of people, including quite a few English majors, English is hard to acquire and master. The level of my English is…good and I maintain interest in English reading, especially in non-fiction reading.

    2. What have you been persisting in doing recently? Try at once, using those means mentioned in this article, to turn it or them into something that you simply cannot stop doing.

Whatever you do, at the very beginning take everything possible into consideration to endow what you are doing with a significant meaning or even multiple layers of meaning.

Things that I am trying to persist in doing are as follows:
-The everyday practices of writing and speaking as well as reading can be seen as the ways to a professional, or the rehearsals for living in advance in the future. To others, a professional might seem like a superman, but to me only being professional can I be a complete human being. And concerning speaking practices in particular, I can take it as a make-believe role-play and a way to play evocation and carnivalization.

-For French learning, as a witness to the miracle of the self-shaping human brain.

-For physical excercise, it can be a witness to a possible miraculous change of a voluntary choice based on the principles of science.

-For maths, law and code learning, they are the ways to the essence of the world, so understanding them means understanding how the real world works. They are also the ways to the realization of the possibilities of this life―one of which is becoming a world citizen, ways to the freedom. In fact, they all are the features of a normal modern human being, who realizes his true value via providing reliable and high quality services to the society.

All in all, when keeping on honing the skills, I can turn my mind into the state of a composed sword-duellist, actually my favorite emotional mould in which I will disregard and counterattack, calmly and decisively, all that disugust me. Eventually, with a life long period I will live a be-better life as a witness to the practice of a true free individual against all those be-good types.

Take everything possible into consideration to endow with negative meanings the absence of or failure in doing so.

-If I do not acquire such skill, what are the things that I simply cannot do or cannot have the chance to do?
If so, I cannot become a real English user, an Internet practioner and/or a lawyer with mathematical faculty, and neither can I have a strong build. As a consequence, I cannot have the access to join the outstanding and be-better group and go beyond the smog of the surroundings.

-In turn, what hardship will you meet in the future? What kinds of opportunities will you miss?
If so, I will still be “locked in a perpetual present” and lack the exprience of a better world before death. All my life I will be trapped in my limited surroundings. In a word, I can only pay for my ignorance and inability.

-If I eventually do not acquire and master such skill, who or what kind of people will I be like? How miserable actually are their lives? Use the imagination to describe such situation as vividly as possible to the degree that it can really scare you.
If so, I will be among and be a part of the middle-aged or old types with heavy material and spiritual burdens of life, a person who cannot master his own life but waste this whole precious life as a human being and die producing no value. Just recall the feeling before high school entrance exam, the impending abyss of regret and hopelessness.

    “朝闻道,夕死足矣。”你究竟有多爱自己的道呢?
