    Fu in Chinese culture

    中国文化中的福

Often, people paste it upside down. The Chinese words for "upside-down" and to arrive" are both pronounced dao. So the phrase fu upside-down sounds nearly the same as the phrase good luck arrives.

    通常,人们会把它贴倒。中文中“倒置”和“到达”的发音都是“dao”。因此,“福倒”这发音和“好运来了”几乎是一样的。

    lts meaning

    它的含义

The character means blessings, happiness and good luck in Chinese.

    文字在汉语的意思是祝福、幸福和好运。

    Where to find it

    哪里可以找到它

It appears in all kinds of things such as paper-cuts and posters.

During spring festival, people paste the fu character on doors and walls.

    它出现在各种各样的东西上,比如剪纸和海报。在春节期间,人们会在门上和墙上贴福字。

    Five blessings

    五福

According to The Book of Documents, they are a long life, wealth, health,  love of virtue and a  peaceful death.

Chinese artists usually use five bats to stand for the blessings because the Chinese name for them includes fu.

    根据《尚书》的记载,它们是长寿、财富、健康、好德和善终。

    中国艺术家通常用五只蝙蝠来代表祝福,因为中文中蝙蝠的名字寓意“遍福”,包括福。
