之前有关此类问题都是用中文写的，关于怎么写dissertation要提到很多英文单词，这次尝试用英文回答一下。全程手打，欢迎交流。
Step 1. Select a topic based on your academic field, your own interest and intensive reading to ensure the implementability of the research about this topic.
Step 2. Discuss about this topic with your supervisor or course tutor for further insights about it and suggestions on how the research can be carried out.
Step 3. Based on the previous two steps, you should know more about this research topic in terms of the research background, research achievements and research gap before identifying your own research purpose，drawing corresponding research objectives and forming research questions.
Step 4. Make a research proposal which specifies these parts: a research title，and an introduction ( it usually includes research background，research contribution/ significance, research aim and research questions). Following the introduction is a literature review which synthesizes, compares and contrasts as well as summarizes previous relevant studies so that the current dissertation can draw on from them and close the research gap.
Based on the research questions，you should draft the methodology to be adopted to fulfill the research purpose. More specifically，the methodology part includes: research philosophy (interpretivism or positivism or others?) , research design(quantitative or qualitative?), research approach (inductive or deductive?), research instrument (interview or questionnaire or others?), ethical considerations(how can the research ethics be fulfilled?), timescale (A schedule detailing how the research will be conducted within a time limit.)
After getting feedback from your supervisor about the proposal, some revision might be needed before the research officially gets started.
For fear of getting lost in the middle of the research，while writing your dissertation，you are advised to keep exchanging ideas with your supervisor about this research so as to obtain timely suggestions.
