    Georgia Reports 742 New Cases of Coronavirus

    742 new cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed within the last 24 hours, by Berdia Sichinava, Deputy Head of the Task Force operating at the Inter-Agency Coordination Council, announced at a press briefing held today at the Government Administration.

    He spoke about the most recent statistics related to COVID-19 and measures taken by the Government of Georgia as of January 27, 2021.

    "Within the scope of intensive testing 18 007 tests have been performed within the last 24 hours, out of which 10 627 were antigen-based express test method and 7 380 PCR. 742 new cases of COVID-19 are confirmed within the last 24 hours. Since the detection of the first case, 255 564 cases have been proven test-positive so far in Georgia. 1 081 individuals have recovered within the last 24 hours, thus making the total number of recoveries reach 245 527.

    "Unfortunately, 12 new fatal cases have occurred within the last 24 hours. Since the outbreak, the total death toll has reached 3 108.

    "Out of 742 new cases detected today, geographic coverage of COVID-19 is as follows: 340 cases have been detected in Tbilisi, 33- in Adjara, 89 - in Imereti, 31 - in Kvemo Kartli, 49 - in Shida Kartli, 21 - in Guria, 70 - in Samegrelo-Zemo Svaneti, 75 - in Kakheti, 20 - in Mtskheta-Mtianeti, 12 - in Samtskhe-Javakheti and 2 - in Racha-Lechkhumi and Kvemo Svaneti.

    "At present, active cases of COVID-19 have reached 6 903, out of which: 2 842 individuals are treated at hospitals, out of which 1 395 are stationed in Tbilisi, 214 - in Adjara and 564 - in Imereti. Acute health conditions are observed in the case of 670 patients, out of which 310 are based in Tbilisi, 48 - in Adjara and 173 - in Imereti. Lung ventilators are used in the case of 177 patients, out of which 134 are stationed in Tbilisi, 1 - in Adjara and 20 - in Imereti. 347 individuals are placed at clinical hotels, out of which 174 are based in Tbilisi, 121 - in Adjara and 15 - in Imereti. 3 714 individuals are treated at home.

    "22 000 individuals are placed in quarantine and 17 915 are currently in self-isolation, out of which 11 231 are located in Tbilisi, 887- in Adjara and 1 689 - in Imereti," announced Berdia Sichinava.
