Life never rewards you with what you want. You ask for oranges, and it ends up giving you lemons.
And no shortage of smart-asses will tell you motivational phrases like “If life gives you lemons, make lemonade.”
I know all too well; I’m that guy.
You want to avoid listening to my motivational sound bites. You don’t like lemonade. You want orange juice.
And I understand that. But that attitude is the source of all your anxiety.
I’m not telling you to forget the oranges. I’m telling you to make the fucking lemonade and sell it. And then set up a fruit store. And then a supermarket.
And then, if you want, you can drink orange juice. Because life won’t have to put it in front of you.
Moral: life does not put in front of you what you want, but it gives you the tools to achieve it. That’s why you must stop obsessing about old dreams, which only keep you anchored to pain and the past.
Move forward, accept that there will be no happy ending for that old desire, forget the oranges, look at all those lemons, think about what you can do with all that new stuff that life has given you, and start again.
