Sonnet 34: Fear of seeing you

Were I the Titan Mad, I too would seek

those gems o’erriding nature’s laws at will

to please my love. No havoc would I wreak.

Through one stone’s power I would my dream fulfill.

No space or time enough have hearts controlled.

No might or mind divine could free will bend.

E’en if I would reality remold,

I could not reach where her soul did ascend.

To higher mount would sacrifice require.

I can’t her own ethereal form forsake.

Anon to see my love’s what I desire,

I dread time’s work on her my faith might shake.

At last I’d face my fear and take the leap,

to trade you with this recreant’s life so cheap.
