Sonnet 34: Fear of seeing you

    Were I the Titan Mad, I too would seek

    those gems o’erriding nature’s laws at will

    to please my love. No havoc would I wreak.

    Through one stone’s power I would my dream fulfill.

    No space or time enough have hearts controlled.

    No might or mind divine could free will bend.

    E’en if I would reality remold,

    I could not reach where her soul did ascend.

    To higher mount would sacrifice require.

    I can’t her own ethereal form forsake.

    Anon to see my love’s what I desire,

    I dread time’s work on her my faith might shake.

    At last I’d face my fear and take the leap,

    to trade you with this recreant’s life so cheap.
