Birds were singing in the trees. The sun was shining through the leaves.
Country Mouse said to a parrot① in the tree, "What a beautiful day! It's sunny and bright in the month of May."He asked the parrot, "How are you today? Isn't it another beautiful day?" He added, "Please send this letter to City Mouse. He lives in the city in a brand new house."
Two Weeks Later, City Mouse came to visit Country Mouse. "Hello, City Mouse, I'm so happy to see you. I'm glad you got my letter. I'm glad you come to visit me too." said Country Mouse.
City Mouse looked handsome ② in a suit and tie. He always looked so handsome, you cannot deny ③City Mouse and Country Mouse took a seat. They sat down to have a bite to eat. Country Mouse served fruits and grain. City Mouse looked at them again and again. City Mouse frowned and said, "Berries and grain are a bore! We in the city eat a lot more! Let's go to the city, and I'll show you around.I'll show you my new home that Ijust found. "
On the way to city , he hardly saw a tree. Only trains, cars, and buildings as could see. Country Mouse's eyes were big and round. He looked left and right. He kept looking around.
He had never seen anything so strange. He was nervous ④ and excited seeing the change.
When they got to City Mouse's house Country Mouse was glad. He had seen more in a day than he ever had .City Mouse had lots of food, sausages, cheese, and ham ⑤. Country Mouse tasted everything, still hoping for some jam ⑥ . These were the thing Country Mouse never eaten before.
Suddenly Country Mouse screamed ⑦ ,"Yikes! What is that?" City Mouse screamed, "It is a catjumping from the mat. "Country Mouse got out just in time. He jumped on the table where the cat couldn't climb.
Suddenly a woman shouted, "get out of here, you dirty mouse! I'll squash⑧ you flat if you don't get out of my house."Country Mouse screamed, "Yikes! What is that? It's even scarier than the cat." He ran like mad to City Mouse as scared as can be, and almost didn't make it.
Country Mouse started packing. He had enough.Life in the city was way too tough.
He said, "I miss the berries and the grain. I want to be outside in the rain."Country Mouse is back in the country and happy as can be. Country Mouse is now safe and free.
