Install golang on Ubuntu 18.04

1 Upgrade to apply the latest security updates

sudo apt-get update

sudo apt-get -y upgrade

2 Download the Go binary file

wget https://dl.google.com/go/go1.11.linux-amd64.tar.gz

3 Extract the downloaded archive and install it to the desired location

tar -xvf go1.11.linux-amd64.tar.gz

sudo mv go /usr/local

4 Setup Go language environment variables GOROOT , GOPATH and PATH

export GOROOT=/usr/local/go

export GOPATH=$HOME/go

export PATH=$GOPATH/bin:$GOROOT/bin:$PATH
