In my office all people speaking English. Several of them are Asian. One of them is a China-born girl and living in this city since high school.
I remembered very clearly when I was a freshman in the office. She just had the offer. Her position is higher than me and just graduated from university. Interestingly, when she moved on from the position at that time, the young man who started his role earlier than she still remain the same.
One year later, the girl has promoted and the young man took over the girl's role and was training by the girl. The strength that I can find from the girl is she is a very good communicator. She is active to show her knowledge and assist the manager to go over the task. In the management meeting, her presentation is well and quite organised. I believe her task for forecasting or budgeting done well also. When she explained things always with clear logic and well structured. People can understand better especially for managements. At least, people like her and talk to her will not with communication gaps.
Compare with the girl, the young man in the office just like kind of a bit shy. He just does his job day in day out. I saw him always work extra hours without speaking with other colleagues. He could be is not a person like to talk to others. But I felt his work is not that organised as some of his tasks seem to duplicate and not smart at all.
I believe everyone is not perfect but learnt from other's strength and smart technique could help me go further efficiently. I would like to learn that girl's communication skill and telling people what we can do and improvement. I cannot afraid my weakness that people know as I will fix my problem more quickly than the weakness stays. I cannot be her, I just myself.
But I know if I can reach that high or cannot surpass her, I never can be the one outstanding. So keep practising harder until next opportunity comes.
