Lesson 2(2019/09/21--level 5)

The present continuous tense VS the past simple tense

New words:

·sail ------- to travel in a boat that uses the wind to move.

·hike ------ a long walk,usually up a mountain.

·dive ------ to swim underwater using two long skis.

·ski -------- to glide over snow using two long skis.

·weigh ---- to see how heavy something is.

The present continuous tense suggests something is happening now.

→The boy is reading a book.

The past simple tense is used to talk about something that has already finished.

→We walked to the shops last night.

Activity:

What is he doing?

He is blowing out the candles on his birthday cake.

What did he do?

He blew out the candles on his birthday cake.


What are they doing?

They are cooking dinner.

What did they do?

They cooked dinner.


What did you do before class?

I had my dinner before class.

What are you doing now?

I’m collating of notes.

What did you do last weekend?

I watched a movie with my friend last weekend.

Make sentences :

1. Sail: Sailing on the sea is an exciting sport.

2. Hike: My aunt went hiking last weekend.

3. Dive: The main purpose of his holiday to Australia was to go diving.

4. Ski: Skiing is a wonderful sport in winter months.

5. Weigh: It’s necessary for someone to weigh themselves regularly if they want to keep fit.
