    【大背景】:

    1.the proliferation of new retail ginancial institutions -> shake up the market

    2.目前状况:

    Within retail banking,high-profile new entrants are beginning to emerge whilst many others are waiting in the wings, ready to take advantage of the current vulnerablities of traditional banks. Whilst they may face high barriers to entry, in terms of capital and regulatory requirements, they come to the market unbridled with negative perceptions and offer a freshness and innovative customer propssition.

    1.supermarket banks

    优势:

    (1)不需要establish a costly high street presence 因为有ready-made retail branch network(open 24*7+car park facilities+extensive marketing resources)

    (2)定点植入式广告全覆盖,且成本小

    (3)loyalty scheme直接转换为financial products,推广流畅。

    经历:

    独立:超市银行从和金融机构合作,到独立出来,自成一家。

    认可不够:被金融危机波及小,也避开了PPI的坑。但是在消费者之间的认可度仍然不是很高。not in a trustworthy position.

    创新:自己的支付系统和app: PayQwiq。绑卡,为400磅以下的订单 pay contactless。有点APP上免密支付的感觉。

    业务进展:

    avoid costly money transmission accounts -> market-lending high-interest-earning saving accounts, credit cards and personal loans -> mortgage+ simple insurance products.

    关键词解读:

    (1)Payment Protection Insurance 

    PPI is designed to repay loans, mortgages, overdrafts, credit cards and store cards if you can’t do so because of an accident, sickness, involuntary unemployment or loss of life.
