Jamie is a beggar who last his parents at a very young age. He found a stolen drum and returned it to its owner. What he did impressed the captain of the Pelican. His life has totally changed since then.
In my opinion, Jamie is a kind and warm-hearted boy. Even though he is (was) poor and homeless, he has (had) his own standards.
I learn something from the story that Not only does everyone have the right to live a better life, but also has the opportunity to live a bett er life. The key is to catch the opportunity and to get well prepared for it to come.
