I do not understand why the EU is so stupid to allow the US to hammer it away for so long and so hard. Those without brains should have realized that America has become the biggest profiteer from the war between Russia and Ukraine.
Economically, America has made the most money from this war. Many European countries are suffering from energy shortages because of the sanctions against Russia. Since Russia has stopped selling gas to them, they have no choice but to buy American natural gas at high prices from far away. The price of gas on the European market has hiked 10-fold. Arms and food traders in the U.S. have taken advantage of the Ukraine crisis to make huge fortunes from the war. People in Europe are facing rising electricity prices, lower heating temperatures and soaring food prices.
No wonder Zhao Lijian, the spokesman of our Ministry of Foreign Affairs, pointed out that the United States, as the originator of the Ukraine problem, has now become the "biggest winner" watching the fire from across the river and sitting back to reap the rewards. His warning deserves the world's attention and vigilance.①
Politically, this war has more or less weakened America's greatest enemy, Russia, and further isolated it from the rest of the world. Moreover, America's long-time allies, the European countries, have become poorer, more restless, and more dependent on America.
Environmentally, the destroyed land, the damaged people, the ruined economy and the killed animals are in Europe, far away from the United States.
