Sadly, just the time we were freed from the final examination, the trip-the unwilling and mysterious one TO AMERICA-has already set off. This has been the third time for me to go to the US. This time is an utterly the roughest trip that I’ve ever had! The trip is not only going to be for fun but for the mission-the assignment from the Modle United Nation. You could say that it is already out of my league to be in such a challenging task of ours, but wouldn’t you know it's always worth it to give it a little try. But not only that, in a more formal and better saying, is that this is the fate, the destination, the path that I’ll step in sooner or later. Even though maybe I can't celebrate the Lunar New Year with my family, to be a little selfishly, the trip to the heart of the WIMUN, the experience in this most developed country, the wise and creative minds are more valued. Besides, in the rapidly-developing China, I can always be in touch with them in WeChat anyways, there’s literally nothing to be worried about! Since I’m here sitting on the aircraft to Shenzhen, journalizing each and every detail during the trip, there’s really nothing you can regret. Don’t hold anything back!
The first sight spot we've seen is the Capitol.
In America, people all have a saying:
Not to be confused with Washington D.C..
For the legislature, see United States Congress.
Capitol Hill, in addition to being a metonym for the United States Congress, is the largest historic residential neighbor in Washington D.C., stretching easterly in front of the United States Capitol along wide avenues. The Capitol building has been the home of the Congress of the United States and the workplace of many residents of the Capitol Hill neighborhood since 1800. On the land of Washington, 2 degrees Celsius, the United States Capitol stands and is majestic, serious and holy, and it is regarded as the highest symbol of the spirit of"of the people, by the people, and for people". The Capitol was built under the direction of the President of Washington on September 18, 1793, and put into use in 1800. It was burned by the British during the second U.S.-British war in 1814, and some of the buildings were destroyed. Subsequently, the House and Senate conference rooms, round roofs and circular halls were built, and many alterations and extensions were made. While we were amazed, we were curious about the snow-white, tall dome building.
The Congress was created by the Constitution of the United States and first met in 1789, replacing in its legislative function the Congress of the Confederation. Although not legally mandated, in practice since the 19th century, Congress members are typically affiliated with the Republican Party or with the Democratic Party and only rarely with a third party or independents.
As the saying goes:
The Congress is a place where everyone finds something in common.
Practicing the Legislative Power, the US Congress passes the bills that aim to benefit American one after another.
As the guide's leader visited, we enjoyed a statue of famous paintings and historical celebrities depicting history, witnessed the Parliamentary Assembly, and deeply felt the process and causes of the rapid development of the United States, a young country, as a world superpower. Among them, in the Madison building of the Library of Congress, we have seen the oldest federal cultural institution in the United States, the world's largest treasure trove of knowledge, an important symbol of American knowledge and democracy, and the Library of Congress, which occupies an important place in American culture. According to recent statistics, it contains 75 million works. In the process of understanding, its book reserves of large, reasonable, magnificent momentum, back-to-back so that the sound of praise, drum applause, in the knowledge of the encirclement, we are also amazed at the greatness of human wisdom, as well as the contribution of Thomas Jefferson outstanding, feelings of the vast.
The second sight spot we went is the Lincoln Memorial. It is seen as an eternal statue of the United States and a symbol of Washington, in a straight line with Congress and the Washington Monument. As its name, it was built in memory of the 16th President of the United States, Abraham Lincoln: The people will not forget his contribution to the United States-the liberation of slaves and the Preservation of American unity. It was also he who saw the ugliness of slavery from the lowest levels of society and debunked the false veil of "equality for all". Although he was brutally assassinated, his spirit will last forever in the Lincoln Memorial and inspire us to fight for a world where all races are treated equally.
During the tour, we saw Lincoln's Gettysburg speech engraved on the marble wall and his second inaugural speech. The 36 cylinders in the museum represent the 36 states divided by the United States at the time of the death of President Lincoln. The tall Memorial Hall runs through Heaven and earth, and the tall statue of Lincoln is full of eyes and air. We all know that in the past hundred years ago, in this land, Lincoln Tenaciously commanded the army to fight the south, liberated the black slaves, and maintained the reunification of the motherland-a hero in the hearts of the American people. With awe and emotion, we reluctantly said goodbye to the great Lincoln.
