Chinese author Lin Qingxuan has died at the age of 65, local media reported on Wednesday.
Born to a "peasant" family in Taiwan, Lin knew he wanted to become a writer at the young age of 8. He went on to become one of Taiwan's most famous names in literature, and was selected as one of the eight masters of contemporary prose in China.
He was awarded numerous prizes, and his most influential literary work is a series of books titled Zen prose.

The most influential part of Lin's literary works is Zen prose. After he started to study Buddhist thought in 1984, Lin began to use Zen philosophy to critically re-exam his life. During the period of studying Buddhist philosophy, Lin wrote down his introspection towards life, and these introspective thoughts are represented in the Zen prose in the Bodhi Series (《菩提系列》). In the prose, Lin uses very simple life stories to explain complicated concepts of Buddhism, and thereby, he leads the readers to think about life, and to understand true happiness. (From Wikipedia)
Lin Ching-hsuan, a Taiwan-born writer gaining popularity across the Straits, died at the age of 65, according to Taiwan media. Born in 1953, Lin Ching-hsuan was a famous writer, essayist, poet and scholar who was honored with numerous prizes.
Raised in Kaohsiung city, Taiwan, he graduated from Shin Hsin University. While in college, he published his first book Lian Hua Kai Luo in 1973. After that he began working as a journalist for several years before devoting himself to writing essays.
He wrote more than one hundred articles, including Bodhi Series (《菩提系列》), Wen Yi Hu Yue Guang Xia Jiu (《温一壶月光下酒》) and Leng Yue Zhong Di (《冷月钟笛》).
Prose like Running with Time (《和时间赛跑》), Cha Taka's Du Juan (《查塔卡的杜鹃》), and Tao Hua Xin Mu (《桃花心木》) became part of primary school textbooks.
On Jan 22, Lin made a final post on Sina Weibo, China's answer to Twitter. "I think the death of the sparrow gives me some inspiration," he said. "Although we live in a world with dust and restrictions, we should never loses the intention and ability to fly."

Lin Qing-xuan was born in an ordinary peasant family. Being interested in writing, he decided to become a writer since he was only eight years old. With his talent in writing, he started to publish articles in newspapers.
Lin won the first prize in the Tainan writing competition during his high school days. After graduating from high school, he went to Shih Hsin University. In his college years, he published his first book Lian Hua Kai Luo (《莲花开落》). Then, he was employed as a journalist, which provided him a chance to research into and get better understanding of the social status quo.
Also, drawing on his experience of interviewing people in social affairs, his own writings were closely related to everyday life and current affairs. By the age of thirty, he had been awarded almost all the important prizes in the Taiwan literature circle.
