前言（序）

I am not a self-made man

“我不是一个人在战斗”。作者在澳大利亚长大，要不是作者在屏幕上看到 Reg Park 雷格·帕克 怎么样转变成一个健美健将的过程，恐怕现在还在阿尔卑斯山上唱着山歌的呢（有点像星光大道的阿宝）。自从那时起，作者就知道一定要离开澳大利亚，而他认为美国是属于他梦想的地方，雷格·帕克就像将他的梦想激情给点燃了，并且勾画出了他自己的未来蓝图。当作者到了美国后，在 Joe Weider 乔·韦德的帮助下，他开始了健美的职业生涯并且将其进行商业化运作。

If I had never seen magazine with  Reg Park on the cover and read about his transition from Mr. Universe to playing Hercules on the big screen ,I might still be yodeling in the Austrian Alps. I knew I wanted to leave Austria , and I knew that America was exactly where I belonged, but Reg put fuel on the fire and gave me my blueprint.

Joe Weider brought me to America and took me under his wing , promoting my bodybuilding career and teaching me about business.

We all need fuel

“我们都需要燃料”。作者 蒂莫西.费里斯今天的成就决不是单靠他自己才有的，他是得到了家人，教练，导师和偶像的援助，建议和鼓舞。如果没有他们给我们足够“燃料”，我们将消耗殆尽，将无法摆脱现实。作者自己是非常多幸运的，当然也是很幸福的，他遇到了很多的贵人，他从那些贵人身上得到了源源不断的“燃料”，让作者可以一直持续的燃烧自己的激情。

We all need fuel. Without the assistance, advice, and inspiration of others, the gears of our mind grind to a halt , and we’re stuck with nowhere to go.

Never stop learning

“不要停止学习”。我们之所以要读这本书，就是因为我们知道：我们不管生活在哪里，我们时刻都需要来自外部的激励和洞察力。我们总会有碰到困难没有答案的时候，或者不知道生活方向的时候，那么这本书就是给你找到方向的一个很好的工具，那就让我们开始学习吧，让我们开始吧！

Never stop learning. Ever.

That’s why you bought this book. You know that wherever you are in life, there will be moments when you need outside motivation and insight. There will be time when you don’t have the answer, or the drive, and you’re forced to look beyond yourself.

Yo can admit that you can’t do it alone. I certainly can’t. No one can.
