Lead  in by a student’s daily presentation about her mother

The activity is related to the student’s daily life, which makes learning real. However, the latter activities seemed not.

Present the target language::what does your mother do? She is a... 1.Listen for specific information about career. my question is why not guide the students  to figure out listening tips2.read the dialogue3.role play the dialogue Languange checking Students’ teaching time Class observation notes Too much emphasis is put on language knowledge explanation instead of exposing them into natural language environment as much as possible
Play a guessing game:what does he do?    (The game is fun but Why not ask students to use the target language to play the game? Why doesn’t the teacher give the chance to the students?) This activity does not have clear instructions .For example, the teacher didn’t make it clear what language Ss are supposed to apply to What’s the purpose of this activity? Can it include what Ss should learn today? Not really. The lesson just ended in such a way. Another old story

Reflection:

1. It will be better if the teacher can create more natural language

2. Give students more chances to ask questions and solve the problems

3. Multimedia should be use more to support the learning process.

4. Design better evaluation methods

5. The pragmatic function of the topic should be discussed and practiced.

I can not find out the meaning of learning the lesson based on the topic“What does your mother do”?
