小种子

It is Autumn.

 A strong wind is blowing.It blows flower seeds high in the air and carries them far across the land. One of the seeds is tiny, smaller than any of the others. Will it be able to keep up with the others? And where are they all going?

 秋天

 秋天来了，大风吹来，把花种子们高高地扬起来，带到远方。在这些种子中间，有一粒特别细小，比别的所有种子都小。这小种子能不能跟上别的种子呢？这些种子又会去哪里呢？

生命的旅程开始了，秋天是结果的季节，所以小种子从这个季节出发，开始了探索。这是种子借助风的力量传播，就像蒲公英那种。你能找到小种子在哪吗？那最小，最后面的那一颗。

One of the seeds flies higher than the others. Up, up it goes! It flies toohigh and the sun's hot rays burn it up. But the tiny seed sails on with theothers.

一粒种子飞得特别高，越飞越高。它飞得太高了，炽热的阳光把它烧着了。我们的小种子同别的种子一起继续旅行。

种子们开始遇到危险和挑战了。如果离太阳太近，就会被热量烧的没有植物活性了。

Another seed lands on a tall and icy mountain. The ice never melts, and theseed cannot grow. The rest of the seeds fly on. But the tiny seed does not goas fast as the others.

另一粒种子停在高高的冰山上。山上的冰终年不化，种子不能生长。剩下的种子继续飞，但我们的小种子没有别的种子飞得那么快。

种子们越过冰山，大种子落错了地方，冰山不能生长，也结束了生命旅程。刚才红彤彤的太阳，这时都变成黄色的，隐藏在风的后面了。这里的温度不足以植物生长。

小种子虽然落在后面，但是因为重量轻，所以不至于落到冰山上，它奋力追赶。

Now they fly over the ocean. One seed falls into the water and drowns. The others sail on with the wind. But the tiny seed does not go as high as the others.

现在，种子们正飞越大海。一粒种子掉到海里，淹没了。别的种子随风飘着，但我们的小种子没有别的种子飞得高。

一粒种子掉入了海洋也终结了生命。小种子却没有飞得那么高，海上风浪大，低空飞行比较安全。

One seed drifts down onto the desert. It is hot and dry, and the seed cannot grow. Now the tiny seed is flying very low, but the wind pushes it on with the others.

一粒种子飘落到沙漠里。大沙漠又热又干，种子不能生长。现在，我们的小种子已经飞地很低了，不过，借着风力它还能跟上别的种子。

 一粒种子落到了沙漠，没有合适的温度和水分，同样不能生长。

看到仙人掌上面的那颗小种子了吗？它好像在蓄积力量。

Finally the wind stops and seeds fall gently down on the ground. A bird comesby and eats one seed. The tiny seed is not eaten. It is so small that the birddoes not see it.

风终于停了，种子们慢悠悠地落到地上。一只小鸟走过，把一粒种子吃了。我们的小种子没被吃掉，它太小了，小鸟都看不见。

种子们落地，可是地上也有危机存在。虽然鸟传播也是种子传播的一种方式，可是被鸟啄碎就麻烦了，整颗种子吞咽下才有可能通过粪便排泄出来。

小种子因为小，不显眼，又逃过一劫。

Now it is Winter.

After their long trip the seeds settle down. They look just as if they are going to sleep in the earth.Snow falls and covers them like a soft white blanket. A hungry mouse that also lives in the ground eats a seed for his lunch. But the tiny seed lies very still and the mouse does not see it.

冬天种子们经过长途旅行固定到各自的位子。看起来，它们要在地里过冬了。下雪了，给种子们盖上了柔软的白被子。一只住在地里的饥饿的老鼠把一粒种子当午饭吃了。我们的小种子躺在地上一动不动，老鼠没看见它。

这是动物传播种子的一个过程，不过当动物饿得不行的时候，他们也要食物啊，老鼠挑了最大的那粒种子。小种子也是因为小，逃过了老鼠的眼睛。

这个画面分地上，雪毯，地下三部分，上面白色的雪花飘落，中间留白即是白雪，这时种子都埋于地下了。经过雪的滋润，来年春天就会发芽了。

Now it is spring.

 After a few months the snow has melted. It is really spring! Birds fly by. The sun shines. Rain falls.The seeds grow so round and full they start to burst open a little.

春天几个月过去了，冬雪化了，春天来了！  小鸟飞来了，太阳出来了，春雨落下来了。种子们开始长大了，它们变得又圆又鼓，有些都开始裂开来了。

种子们终于迎来了春天生长的季节。吸饱了水的种子们都变得圆鼓鼓的，裂开生根，发芽了。

 Now they are not seeds any more. They are plants. First they send roots down into the earth. Then their little stems and leaves begin to grow up toward the sun and air.  There is another plant that grows much faster than the new little plants. It is a big fat weed. And it takes all the sunlight and the rain away from one of the small new plants. And that little plant dies.

现在，他们不再是种子了，他们是植物了。首先，它们把根须往下伸到地里去；然后，它们长出小小的茎叶，朝向空气和阳光。有一株植物原来是一株又胖又大的野草，它长得比别的新植物都快。它抢走了所有的阳光和雨露以至于在它边上的一株小植物死掉了。

种子们终于开始生长成植物了，卡尔爷爷用简单的语言描绘了植物生长的过程：生根，抽茎，长叶。但是自然法则是优胜劣汰，想要生存，植物就要自己争取更多的阳光和水分，长得弱小的就会因为缺少资源而夭折。

The tiny seed hasn't begun to grow yet.It will be too late! Hurry！ But finally it too starts to grow into a plant.

我们的小种子还没有发芽呢。快呀，要来不及了！终于，小种子也长成植物了。

小种子选的位置很好，没有落到野草下面，被吸走营养。我们都要替小种子捏一把汗呢。它慢慢开始发芽。

The warm weather also brings the children out to play. They toohave been waiting for the sun and spring time. One child doesn't see the plantsas he runs along and--Oh! He breaks one! Now it cannot grow any more.

久违了的阳光和春天温暖的气候把孩子们也带到了野外来游戏。他们也等待了好长时间，终于迎来了阳光和春天。啊！有一个孩子没有注意到春天的植物们，在奔跑中他把一株植物踩断了。这下，这株植物就不能再生长了。

孩子们的跑跳玩耍也是会轻易的毁掉一个植物的生命，有些幼苗一踩就折断枯萎了。好在小种子幸运的躲过这一脚。

看到这幅图，真想把这只脚搬开，所以我们出去踏青的时候，也要告诉宝贝，注意保护幼小的嫩芽和植物。一个生命是多么的脆弱。

The tiny plant that grew from the tiny seed is growing fast, but its neighbor grows even faster.Before the tiny plant has three leaves the other plant has seven! And look! A bud! And now even a flower!

我们的小种子长成的小植物飞快地生长着，但它的邻居长得更快。小植物才三片叶子的时候，邻居已经有七片了！看！花蕾！哦，花都开了！

旁边的花长得很快，都已经开出了美丽的花朵。

But what is happening? First there are footsteps. Then a shadow looms over them. Then a hand reaches down and breaks off the flower.

怎么拉？一阵脚步声以后，一片阴影盖过来，接着，一只手伸过来，摘走了花！

可惜的是，美丽易逝。一个年轻美丽的生命就这么被折断了，在它刚开始绽放生命姿彩的时候。

我们看到美丽的花，都很喜欢，但是要记得珍惜，不能因为自己的喜爱，就剥夺他们生存的权利。这是教育无痕，当我们随着小种子的旅程经历过之后，我们的宝贝慢慢就会懂得，小种子成长为美丽的花朵多么艰辛，不要随手摘花。

A boy has picked the flower to give to a friend.

原来是一个男孩把花送给了女朋友。

男孩送给了女朋友花朵，可是这朵花也结束了生命。

It is Summer.

Now the tiny plant from the tiny seed is all alone. It grows on and on. It doesn't stop. The sun shines on it and the rain waters it. It has many leaves. It grows taller and taller. It is taller than the people. It is taller than the trees. It is taller than the houses. And now a flower grows on it. People come from far and near to look at this flower. It is the tallest flower they have ever seen. It is agiant flower.

夏天小种子长成的植物孤独地生长着，它长啊，长啊，一刻不停。阳光照耀着它，雨水滋润着它。它有很多叶子了，它越长越高。比人高了！比树高了！比房子都高了！现在，它也长出了一朵花。附近的人们，甚至远处的人们都来看这朵花。这是他们看到过的最高的花，简直是巨形花！

现在只剩下小种子的这颗植物孤零零的了，它抓紧时机，快速的生长，终于开出了巨大美丽的花朵，成了一个奇迹。人们再也不能忽视它，践踏它，而是仰望它！所有的艰辛终于有了收获！

All Summer long the birds and bees andbutterflies come visiting. They have never seen such a big and beautiful flower.

整个夏天，小鸟，蜜蜂，蝴蝶们不停地来拜访，它们也从没有看到过那么巨大，那么好看的花！

小种子开出的花吸引小昆虫们和小鸟来为它传粉，为结出种子做准备，进行生命的延续。

Now it is Autumn again.

The days grow shorter.The nights grow cooler. And the wind carries yellow and red leaves past the flower. Some petals drop from the giant flower and they sail along with the bright leaves over the land and down to the ground.

又一个秋天白天越来越短了，夜晚越来越冷了。风把黄的红的叶子吹起来，几瓣花瓣从巨大的花上落下来，同那些彩色的叶子一起飘落到地上。

季节的轮回，周而复始，生命也继续。秋天树叶和花朵都要飘落下来。美丽的花也要凋零。

The wind blows harder. The flower has lost almost all of its petals. Itsways and bends away from the wind. But the wind grows stronger and shakes theflower. Once more the wind shakes the folwer, and this time the folwer's seedpod opens. Out come many tiny seeds that quickly sail far away on the wind.

风更紧了。巨大的花几乎失去了它所有的花瓣。它在风中摇晃着，低下了头。又一阵风吹来，这回，果荚打开了，无数小种子从里面飞出来，随风飘去。

当我们刚要为漂亮的花朵凋零伤心的时候，生命的奇迹开始了，它的种子继续新的旅程了，生命得以延续。还会有这样的小种子，继续为生命奋争。

  这是卡尔爷爷讲述生命旅程的一本绘本，小种子借风飞行、经过阳光的烘烤，越过冰山，飞跃海洋，穿越沙漠，躲过小鸟，扎根、生长、开花，经历了漫长而艰辛的旅程，期间有磨难，也蕴含危险，最终成长为巨大绚烂的花朵，展示着生命的奇迹和美丽。

        小种子Tiny Seed在生命旅程中，都是落在后面，什么都比别的种子慢，但是它顽强的继续旅程，躲过各种危险，最后开出了最大的花，而当时和它一起的更大的种子、飞的高的种子、跑的快的种子、最早发芽的种子、长的最快的种子却都没有等到开花的那一天就结束了，生命就是这样充满偶然和巧合，用平和的心态对待孩子的成长，一开始慢的不一定后劲不足，厚积薄发的力量更不可小觑。
