I've never heard about meditation until I read an article written by Lixiaolai which called "How to improve your metacognition skill?" Meditation, also called sit crosslegged in Buddhism, is a good way to relieve stress and open your inner sense of rational thinking.
I have no idea whether meditation works on me so I just put it aside to spend time on other methods to improve my metacognition skill, such as cultivating an interest, self-examination, looking at myself in the mirror when I have sentiments, writing down my thoughts on the paper etc. However, sometimes these mothods work, sometimes they do me no favors. All these methods are seeked from the outside, this is the reason they sometimes don't work. There must be a solution from my inner life.
I was anxious last Saturday because I procrastinated my daily plan and wasted inordinate amounts of time on watching TV. Hence, I made an attempt to conduct an meditation. I set an alarm clock of 15 miniutes, sat straightly, crossed my legs, colsed my eyes and start to do the meditation. At the beginning, you may feel uncomfortable as your vistual connection with the world is cut off.You may feel anxious because you cannot see anything. The anxiety may even compels you to open your eyes, but don't open your eyes.
" Calm down, the uncomfortable moment will pass soon", I talked to myself, concentrated on my breath.I started to pay attention to the sounds I had heard from the surrounding after a short time. Then I felt many thoughts were flying in my mind.
Unconsciously my rational thinking was activated. I began to think about my objectives as well as the plan which give the path to the objectives. Finally, I decided to take action.
As Lixiaolai's word goes, "You will never want to stop when you have experienced the benefits from meditation". Futhermore, it's unnecessary to stop doing maditation once you have begun.
