The extended family(grandparents,cousins,aunts and uncles) is less important now than it was in the past.

Answer: In this times, the importance of extended family has changed from the past to now. Someone thinks that extended family including grandparents, cousins, aunts and uncles is less important now. I agree with this statement for the following two reasons.

Firstly, I noticed that the relationship of the core family and the extended family is not so close as before. In today`s China more and more people choose to find a job far away from their home. They tend to work and live in the only several big cities. ①That means in their interpersonal relationships extended family doesn`t have an important contribution. ②Commonly people work far away from their hometown only go back home in Spring Festival which is once a year. ③Hence, the extended family won`t have a close relationship with the core family.

Secondly, I believe that some functions of the extended family will be replaced by the perfection of policy system guarantee in the contemporary age. For instance, a couple who want to purchase a house property used to borrow money from their extended family in the past. But now a growing number of people benefit from the loan of business bank. What`s more, in the aspect of health care the elderly used to rely on their sons and daughters`s care. Now the public health care institue can meet this demand. So to speak that modern service industry give people convenience which provided by the extended family in the past.

Of course, the happiness of home reunion are always people`s emotion treasure. Everyone requires the warmth of extended family. However, it can`t be denied that extended family are not so important to the core family whenever in meeting frequency or use functions.
In a word, I support the statement that the extended family is less important now than it was in the past. Maybe it`s new influence of the contemporary society. In it the internal relationship of family is gradually but deeply shaped.
