These are the basic rules stated by the author enough to apply to any instructive book. But when you face a practical problems it doesn't work. Nothing but action solve this problems and action occurs in the world, not in books.

Practical books fall into two main groups, one is saking of the rules; the other is primaly concerned with the principles which generate rules. Many great books are second one.

When you read a practical book, you may ask two questions, the first is the author's objectives, the second is what means is he proposing.Answering these two questions is necessary before reading a practical book.

It is good for us to know something about the character of the writer, and his life and times.

That means we are getting to know about the author. We can understand his works better. Because of that, extinsic reading about the author is much more important. We should remember this as an additional rule to guide us in reading practical books.

Extrinsic Reading may throw light on the problems, help us to be critical of the book we are reading, locate points ofinformation and so on.In a word, it is very important while we are reading.

Three things lies beyond the book you are reading. They are experience, other books and live discussion. All rules of intrinsic reding is seldom sufficient to read any book well, either interpretively or critically. When we are reading, we should have a good command of these aids.
