    今天听武志红老师讲“延伸与耐力”的时候他说英文 Reach 这个单词,翻译成“延伸”很直观,但也许更准确的翻译是“污染”,所以特意查了下reach 的用法,词性:动词&名词。查完后没能与“污染”的词义挂钩,这一词义应该放在心理学层面去理解更好。其他的释义都很熟悉,所以就不做罗列了,不过例句中有个表达很不错,We must reach out to those in need.我们应该伸出援助之手,帮助有困难的人。

    @吴爱芝 我觉得这样的分享也挺值得推荐!就是把英语的学习跟我们的实际生活联系在一起。这样的话,其实我们的分享显得多了一个维度,不致于太过于硬梆梆。
    武老师那篇文章我也读过,他觉得reach翻译为“污染”更好,我觉得想表达的意思是:reach的原意是“延伸”(to extend as far as),在心理学的意思是:“你是否会自动将一个挫折的挫败感延伸到其他方面。”而这个词在英语里面有一个延伸的意思:to succeed in having an effect on“影响,左右”。低挫折商的人属于“高延伸”,就是他们遇到一个挫折事件,很容易会产生“天塌下来了”的感觉,从而把别的原来好好的事情搞得很糟糕。从这个角度而言,就是把坏的(感觉)影响到了好的(事情),这不就是跟“污染”的意思没有区别?

    【同义词辨析】effort、 exertion、struggle、 trouble

    effort可指某工作或事情需要的努力之多少。
    【辨析】the physical or mental energy that you need to do sth.
    【例证】How much effort will it take to get the orders out on time
    要命令发出,需要费多少工作?

    exertion表示相当大的或令人劳累的 effort。
    【辨析】If someone or something exerts influence, authority, or pressure, they use it in a strong or determined way, especially in order to produce a particular effect.
    【例证】He stood gasping with exertion after reaching the summit of the hill。
    他抵达山顶之后,站在那儿累得直喘

    trouble强调面对困难或阻力时所作的 effort,在习惯用法上表示用心谨慎,不一定有吃力 exertion之意味。
    【辨析】If you tell someone that it is no trouble to do something for them, you are saying politely that you can or will do it, because it is easy or convenient for you.
    【例证】She took whatever pains necessary to put her trouble to get to her guests at ease
    她尽了一切必需的努力使她的客人舒适。

    struggle是这组中唯一专指极大 effort的词,不仅是由于工作之困难或执行时外来的阻力,而是也由于执行者本人之决心与热忱。
    【辨析】A struggle is a long and difficult attempt to achieve something such as freedom or political rights.
    【例证】his heroic struggle to overcome all obstacles in a situation where it would have been an effort merely to stay alive
    他在单是求生已是费力的情况下所作克服一切困难的英勇斗争。

    【释义】

    【搭配】
    1、与形容词的搭配:
    sheer exuberance, youthful exuberance, natural exuberance
    2、与动词的搭配:

    【例句】

    今天刷Twitter上一篇文章时,看到"I do not say this lightly, you are the best community we could ask for. Your dedication and exuberance towards the cause is a constant reminder to us that our goals are not our own."
    exuberance这个词能大概知道意思,但是精确的意思一时想不起来,所以查了一下。查完对这个单词的认识立体了很多。
