这正是我所需要的，背了那么多年单词，到底掌握了多少，确实值得问问自己。很多只知道肤浅的意思，至于灵活应用那就差远了。我也在使用百词斩这样的APP提高自身的词汇量，但灵活应用词汇不是简单背背就好的。你们觉得呢？有什么其它体会可以留言给我。

a. First, master the "schwa"!
The vowel sound of word is said very quickly.
Phonetically respelled, these words are represented as:

大概就像北京人听山西人说话一样吧，它们的地区口音差异相对汉语还是小了很多。
本书使用西部发音标注，Google一下，美国目前还是依中西部口音为主。作者当年带着口音从NY搬到LA，也是废了半天劲才把口音改过来。
