I still remember before marriage ,my husband promised to buy a villa, but he didn't make it even after hundreds year later. These thing happened so far, but seem so close to me.
However, my dear friends, to tell you the truth, I forgot everything when I made my first speech in toastmaster club. My right brain had nothing left, my left brain had nothing right. Oh I felt dizzy...I didn’t feel well. And then, I heard a voice. Someone was calling my name, Donna please. I went up and held it with trembling hands - the doctor's hand, oh no, it should be the host's hand.
The stage was only 3meters far away from me. It was so close but I felt so far to get to. Make public speech seems a long long way to me. I felt lost and spent a lot of time to think about why and how , until I read a story about how a positive attitude changed life.
Two people are building walls. There is someone come and asked them,: do you think it's hard to build them?
The first person show his broken hands and depressed said, yes, the work is too hard, my body feel tired .
The second person said with a smile,
I don't think it is hard, because I am building a beautiful house, and building a wonderful city.
few Years later, the first man was still building walls, and the second became a famous architect.
I deciced to learn from the story and change a different view to look at the bad things we met. because different attitude towards life, life will also return you different ending.
I spend several month to sit under stage just like you all ,to listen, listen all fellow members speech, I marked down their advantages and what else I can learn from.
I spend several month without speech but ask for advice from expeeienced toastmaster's. they taught me how to open our body position and memorize the speech through outline plus keywords.
I spend several month to restarted a new pathway, I tried to prepared two speech every two weeks so that I can get more chance to practice.
After that, I also found that my attitude towards life had changed. once I got a positive attitude, every trying I did is meaningful.
When I passed level2, when I stand on the stage to give speech now, I can feel my comfortable . The stage is still there, but now it is not far away from me.
I also would like call this is kinds of growth. Growth is the gap between your imagination and reality, when you falled into the gap, we called frustration, when you climb out, we called growth.
We can't control the reality but we can learn how to get along with the reality and use positive attitude to everything , we will see more beautiful happen .
Life is a long long journey, and our objective seam so far from us. Keep a positive attitude and make effort step by step, and you will see the objective is getting close to us.
So far, so close all depends on our attitude.
