1.drudge

professional writers are solitary drudges who seldom see other writers.

drudge

/ˈdrʌʤ/  noun  ,  pl  drudg·es[  count  ]

  : a person who does boring, difficult, or unpleasant work

  She was tired of working as an office drudge.

  — often used before another noun

  drudge work

  a drudge job

怎么记这个单词呢 就是靠读音来联想 抓纸――就是捡破烂的――像捡破烂一样的工作就是苦工

作文中也可以摆脱boring ,hard这些词汇，当你想形容这个工作很累很无聊又没人陪 就可以说

某份工作 are solitary drudges who ……

我觉着能用在平常关于work&study的balance里写 学生出去兼职的坏处

2.gusto

he described with gusto the joys of weaving them through his work.

先看看字典的解释

写作时的时候可以用来代替 enthusiastic

做什么事肥肠有热情

with gusto

还有个表达也很好 把什么应用进去

weave sth through sth 觉得动词好可爱

3.be clotted with

the second one is clotted with long words.

一般意思即动词 （血液）凝结成块

或者 可数名词 （血液的）凝块

以上本实用主义选择忽略

在这里表示....与....结伴出现

炒鸡好的表达 拿小本本记下 再也不用 company 啦

4.mollify

the president of my university wrote a letter to mollify the alumni after a spell of campus unrest

这个词比较熟 主要想回忆一下她的同义词

concilitate appease pacify tranquilize placate assuage soothe propitiate

5.bewilder vs. confused

摘自@小芷芷

是同义词，但不能完全替换，例如

I confused you with your sister.

confuse X and Y 表示分不清X和Y，means I couldn't tell the difference, or thought one was the other.

I bewildered you with your sister.

bewilder X with Y 表示由于Y让X困惑，means I used your sister to cause you confusion.

summary

chapter 1 begins with two  writer's different opinions about the writing which the author talk about writing as a vocation while Dr. Brock as an avocation. They are in stark contrast. In authors eyes,writing are not fun or easy,and rewriting is neccssary.Besides,we should stick to the schedule of writing regardless of your mood.All in all,professional writers are solitary drudges.maybe that's to say ,when the things you love become your jobs, there would be more responsibility,although in this way it seems to be less fun than you imagined, but life is always hard. I think can do jobs about things you love is still a lucky thing.

I also learned that good writing should have humanity and warmty.All in all,you should find a way of writing which is suitable for you, no matter what the way it is.

In the chapter 2, the author emphasis the simplicity.we should strip every sentence to its cleanest components.The way to achieve this is to clean our heads of clutter and keep pace with the train of thoughts.and what the most important thing is keep rewriting.

一点小废话

其实今天有很多很多事情，我还是硬挤出一个多小时来写，也是第一次用简书，觉得好新奇。对今天写的其实不是很满意，我想写得还有很多，可时间不允许，但还是很开心自己终于迈出读原版书这一步啦！希望自己好好坚持！加油！
