A village

We spotted a village seated far off the county road as we drove on , we were not sure if it was the village we had planned to see. So we just pulled up and checked it from afar.

This village was very tiny and hidden at the foot of a hill which walled it in a half ring. A small number of  low-roofed houses scattered here and there, all in small-size and bad conditions and kept a certain distance from each other. Many roofs were swept away and walls just left tumbling down there. We wanted to have a close look but somehow we were intimidated by its gloomy looks and gave up the idea immediately.

The village seemed to have been deserted for a while, no cable towers at sight, no cement roads around. But soon we were proved wrong. There well-maintained tea trees growing from top to foot on the hillside, and among that dark green sea  stirred some colorful headscarfs, surely the elderly were picking tea leaves there .

So it seemed that the villagers here still lived a primal life. It’s better not to walk into their life just because of curiosity. So we drove on contentedly after a last peep of the village .
