    LOLITA

She was Lo. Plain Lo in the morning. Standing four feet ten in one sock. She was Lola in slacks. She was Dolly at school. She was Dolores on the dotted line. In my arms, she was always...Lolita. Light of my life. Fire of my loins. My sin. My soul. Lolita.

Lo. An incredible girl. Intelligent, wilful, beautiful, also full of charm.

Maybe she is just that kind of girl, who emits the breath of temptation all the time. Not just Humbert, every man could be her prey. That's not because Lo is an evil. It's just her instinct. No matter she is a little girl, or a pregnant woman.

I don't think she likes Humbert. Actually, I believe that she hates him. She thinks he was the murderer who killed her mother. She lives with him just because she likes to see Humbert becomes crazy because of her. She considers sex as a way to trade or a kind of entertainment not a natural behavior of love. At last, when she asked Humbert for financial help, the first thought of her is to have sex with Humbert to get the money. She would like to be pale, be polluted, be a dead leaf rather than stay with Humbert and have a rich life which shows no affection.

However, Humbert loves her. Although at first he may be attracted because of her beauty and the leftover of the love of a 14-year-old young girl who died in her most beautiful time, Humbert falls in love with Lo incurably until he dies. I don't know why and I don't know how, but he didn't find other girls when Lo disappeared. That means he really loves her.

Humbert killed Quality at last. I think he just does not want to admit that Lo has never loved him. He killed Quality for his guilty. Maybe he was using that way to compensate Lo.

    Anyway, everyone dies at last.

    Maybe that's the best result.

I would still go mad with tenderness at the mere sight other face.

    但我只要再看她一眼, 万般柔情,涌上心头。
