Mercury is the smallest planet in our solar system and the closest one to the Sun. It is a rocky planet, similar to Earth, Mars, and Venus. Its atmosphere is very thin, which means there is no air to breathe, and it is incredibly hot—the surface temperature can reach up to 800 degrees Fahrenheit (i.e. 430 degrees Celsius) during the day. Additionally, Mercury is covered in craters, which are the result of asteroids and comets that have collided with the planet over time.

Mercury is quite small compared to other planets in our solar system. Its diameter is approximately 4,880 kilometers, which is only about 38% of the diameter of Earth. And it's even smaller when compared to larger planets like Jupiter or Saturn. In fact, Mercury is only about 5% the size of Jupiter, and 2% the size of Saturn. It's even smaller than two moons in our solar system: Ganymede (a moon of Jupiter) and Titan (a moon of Saturn).
