The road not taken

    第一节

Two roads diverged in a yellow wood,

And sorry I could not travel both

And be one traveler, long I stood

And looked down one as far as I could

To where it bent in the undergrowth.

    第二节

Then took the other, as just as fair,

And having perhaps the better claim,

    Because it was grassy and wanted wear;

Though as for that the passing there

Had worn them really about the same.

    第三节

And both that morning equally lay

In leaves no step had trodden back.

Oh, I kept the first for another day!

Yet knowing how way leads on to way,

I doubted if I should ever come back.

    第四节

I shall be telling this with a sigh

    Somewhere ages and ages hence:

Two roads diverged in a wood, and I--

I took the one less traveled by,

And that has made all the difference.

    翻译:

    没有走的路/赵毅衡译

    黄色的林子路分两股,

    可惜我不能两条都走。

    我站立良久,形影孤独,

    远远眺望,顺着一条路,

    看它转到灌木林后。

    我选了另一条,同样宜人,

    挑上这条或许有点道理:

    这条路草深,似乎少行人;

    实际上来往的迹印,

    使两条路相差无几。

    而且早晨新落的叶子

    覆盖着陆,还没人踩,

    哦,我把第一条留给下次!

    前途多歧,这我也知,

    我也怀疑哪能重新回来。

    多年,多年后,在某地,

    我将讲这件事,叹口气:

    树林里路分两股,而我呢——

    选上的一条较少人迹,

    千差万别由此而起。

    写作这首诗的是美国大诗人佛罗斯特,佛罗斯特前半辈子坎坷,40岁才有了名声和相应的地位。最令人戚戚的是他生有5个子女,只有一人活下来,且处处怒对他。其他四人皆自杀或夭折。诗人临死前还在乞求子女原谅。诗人的妻子甚至对他说他不应该结婚,不应该生儿育女。感觉这首诗是是人对自己选择的路的质疑的无奈。无数个瞬间,后悔、质疑、无奈…

    每个人读这首诗读到了自己,我有时候也会想,如果选择了另一条路,现在会如何?假如现在就此改变,又会是如何?世界之大,等着我这样平庸的人四处求索吧。
