“Behold, how good and pleasant it is when brothers dwell in unity! It is like the precious oil on the head, running down on the beard, on the beard of Aaron” (Psalm 133:1–2). There is a popular Jewish legend that the name Aaron was the most popular name among the children of Israel in the wilderness. The reason was that Aaron would reconcile couples back together, and they would then honor Aaron by naming their children after him. While this is just a legend, it does reflect the character of Aaron. We see this in the incident of the golden calf.
When confronted, Aaron decided to give the people what they wanted instead of seeing them get upset. While this may not have been the best decision, it still reflects a desire for peace and reconciliation from Aaron. The legend says that Aaron would make peace by telling each person that the other wanted to reconcile, and they would think that it was the other person who caved first. This is pursuing peace and being a peacemaker.
Yeshua also calls us to this same active peace-seeking when he says, “Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.” Being a peacemaker means actively watching for opportunities to intervene and bring harmony to a situation. As Aaron visits us in our sukkahs, may we all petition God to make us peacemakers who strive for peace and goodwill above all else.
“看哪，弟兄和睦同居，是何等的善，何等的美。这好比那贵重的油，浇在亚伦的头上，流到胡须，又流到他的衣襟。（诗篇133:1-2）”有一个著名的犹太传说，亚伦这个名字是旷野中的以色列人最常见的名字，原因是亚伦能够使人重归于好，因此他们通过给孩子起名的方式来遵从亚伦。虽然这仅仅是个传说，他确实的反映出亚伦的人格特质。我在金牛犊事件就能看出来。
当亚伦面对冲突的时候，他决定不想看到百姓们心烦意乱，给他们想要的。尽管这不是一个最好的决定，但依然反映出亚伦想要在冲突中带来和睦。这个传说告诉我们，亚伦通过告诉对方想要和睦，让对方感受到另一方首先让步，带来和睦。这样追求和睦，成为和睦的缔造者。
耶稣透过“使人和睦的人有福了，因为他们必称为神的儿子”，呼吁我们积极的寻求和睦。成为和睦的缔造者意味着需要积极的寻找机会，为所处的冲突中制造缓和的氛围。当亚伦来造访我们的住棚节，愿我们向上主恳求，愿我们积极争取成为和睦的缔造者。
