Jeffrey L. Meikle is Professor of American Studies and Art History at the University of Texas at Austin. He is the author of Twentieth Century Limited: Industrial Design in America,1925‒1939(Temple University Press, 1979) and

American Plastic: A Cultural History(Rutgers University Press, 1995), which was awarded the Dexter Prize by the Society for the History of Technology. His publications also include numerous articles, catalogue essays, and reviews. He has served as a consultant to the Art Institute of Chicago, the National Museum of American History, and the Wolfsonian Foundation.
