Huang Xiaodi is an entrepreneur from Wenzhou City of Zhejiang Province, a graduate of Shanghai Jiaotong University. He made a speech in a seminar in the just-ended Hotelx a few days ago:
Before the eruption of the Covid-19 epidemic, 37.4 per cent of the catering businesses were yet to engage in online sales. During the epdemic, 50 per cent of the catering businesses focused entirely online while 20 per cent paid equal attention to both its online and offline business.
China's catering sales was RMB 4.67 trillion. The estimation is to hit RMB 7 trillion by 2024, and RMB 20 trillion in ten years time, according to Morgan Stanley's research.
Huang used to be a successful enpreneur launching a hotel chain, which was acquired by a public company. Since then he launched a catering business supporting restaurants, cafes and bars to reduce operational cost by focusing producing meals, leaving the rest of operation to his company, named Huang Xiao Di.
