Once on shore, one prays no more. This saying exactly illustrates my attitude toward healthy preserving in the previous two months.
Starting from the end of March, i suffered from quite serious spring seasonal rhinitis with symptoms including itchy eyes, blocked nose and constant sneezing. I tried multiple ways to relieve such pain. I got myself allergy medicine and eye drops. But I have always been a little skeptical about west medicine so I have restrained myself from taking this medicine. I found several videos about messaging acupuncture points to strengthen our body and I tried it for several days. Also I went to a TCM expert and I took herbal medicine for 2 weeks. I even read several books about health preserving written by a TCM expert and resonate with most of his ideas. Inspired by the writer, I was determined to live a healthy life and I thought I could completely quit my phone and live healthily ever after.
The pain lasted for more than 1 month and finally here comes my heavenly May--I could finally enjoy breathing smoothly and the sweet smell of spring blossoms. And when the scar is healed, I completely forget about my pain, which is likely to come back to me next April. Old habits do die hard. I picked them up so naturally and I did not even think about an excuse. For several nights, I stayed up until 11:30 to watch TV,also I ate more snacks than I should. What a sin!
However, if no pain is ever wasted, I have to say I do have gained something this spring. It is the first spring for me in the last 35 years that I have seriously learnt to take care of myself according to the weather condition. I take off and put on clothes on time, also I pay more attention to the changes in nature and learn to enjoy the beauty nature presents to us. I have also started gardening, and yesterday, one gardenia bloomed, and gave out so sweet and refreshing smell that it amazed everyone in the family. I have realized that true happiness comes from seemingly useless things, such as the blooming of a gardenia.
