    海阔凭鱼跃,

    天高任鸟飞。

    Boundless is the sea for fish to dive at will

    Unlimited is the sky for birds to fly at ease

    The ocean is boundless for fish to leap at will

    The sky is unlimited for birds to fly at ease

    天上不会掉馅饼

    No pie will fall from the sky.

    It’ll never rain roses.

    There’s no free lunch in life.

    Money doesn’t grow on trees.

    No fruit will be reaped without hard work.

    由俭入奢易,由奢入俭难

    It’s easy to move from frugality to extravagance, but difficult from extravagance to frugality.

    It’s easier to go from frugality to extravagance than from extravagance to frugality.

    It’s easy to go from thrift to luxury, but difficult to do vice versa.

    谎言重复千遍也成不了真理。

    A lie can't be a truth even if repeated a thousand times.

    青出于蓝而胜于蓝

    Indigo blue is extracted from, but bluer than the indigo plant.

    The pupil learns from and outdoes his teacher.

    Indigo blue is extracted from the indigo plant but it is bluer than the plant it comes from.

    坚持一种民主制度作为普遍标准,就像强迫每个人都穿同样的衣服。

    To uphold one democratic system as a universal standard is like forcing the same suit on everybody.

    Persisting in evil brings about self-destruction.
