Scooter startups in the United States are hiring to full time employees to repair, charge and move the scooters. Bird, Spin and Lime all showed preference for employees over contract workers, hoping to get a better quality control. At the moment, however, it is still unclear whether this business model will work well as the companies expand. Full time employees cost thirty percent more than contract workers, and many people only wish to work with scooters on a part-time basis.
