今年的冬天我的生活里充满了各种各样的论文，在不断读论文的过程中，我发现自己的各方面能力确有提升，但过程也的确充满荆棘。
最近在啃一篇英文文献Media,genre,facts and truth revisiting basic categories of narrattive diversification，翻译为：媒介，体裁，事实与真相——叙事多元化的基本范畴再认识。
这是教授布置的一篇论文，与我的研究方向不一致，所以在读的过程中困难重重。但考虑到教授是为了训练和检测我们的英文逻辑思路和表达能力，我还是硬着头皮读了好几遍。
1.在Introduction引言部分，作者指出了自己的研究目的——The purpose in this essay is to approach the issue of media through their relations to genres, facts and truth. （这篇文章的目的是通过媒介与类型、事实和真相的关系来探讨媒介的问题）。
2.为了做到这一点，作者立足于自己认为对叙述者和文学批评家最相关的定义:媒体是“艺术表达的物质或技术手段”(韦氏英语词典)。通过比较分析的方式论述了媒介的作用、流派的演变以及二者的关系，并衍伸出了对事实、真理的讨论以及相互作用的理论。
In order to do that, I relied on what I regard as the most relevant defnition for narratologists and liter ary critics: media as “material or technical means of artistic expression” (Webster English Dictionary).
I have collected a few lists to compare different genres during my readings on the topic. 在阅读过程中我收集了关于这个主题的一些列表去比较不同的体裁。
3.关于媒介
The semiotic component,the material component and the cultural component carry variable weight in the distinction of individual media.（符号组件，材料组件和文化组件在个体媒介的区分中占有不同的权重）
关于体裁
A genre is a category in a system of classifcation, but questions of taxonomy have been displaced by questions of identity and subjectivity.（体裁是分类系统中的一个范畴，但分类学的问题已被同一性和主观性的问题所取代）From a semiotic point of view, there is no single type of criterion that defnes different genres.（从符号学的角度来看，没有单一类型的标准来定义不同的体裁）

I believe that the importance of the distinction between genres and media depends on the domain of investigation, as well as on the purpose of the investigator.（我认为类型和媒体之间区别的重要性取决于调查的领域以及调查者的目的）
关于事实与真理
I treat facts and truth as correlates, since a fact is the referent of a true proposition.（我把事实和真理视为关联物，因为事实是真命题的参照物）propositions,in turn, are the semantic content of assertions. （命题，反过来，是断言的语义内容）
4. 通过对媒介、体裁、事实和真相之间关系的考察，作者希望能够巩固一种超越传统文学范畴的叙事理论的基础。如果我们不能明确叙述多样化的关键因素，那么这种扩展便会站不住脚。媒体带我们超越语言和文学;类型，超越小说和短篇小说;事实与真理，超越纷扰。
Through this examination of the relations between media, genres, facts and truth, I hope to have strengthened the foundation of a narrative theory that extends beyond its traditional territory of literary fction. This extension would rest on shaky ground, if we were unable to defne the key factors of narrative diversifcation. Media take us beyond language and literature; genre, beyond novels and short stories; fact and truth, beyond fction.
