Today my main task is to have someone who knows nothing about baseball like me understood baseball.
I am ready to start with the playing filed of baseball. Seen from above, it looks like a diamond. It consists of infield and outfield.The infield is a square area while the outfiled is a part of cirque area and these two combine a fanshaped area.The whole game needs nine players,one catcher,one pitcher,one batter,three basemen,and three fielders.Except the batter all other eight persons are defending ones.Not every time the home team takes charge of defending.Each game baseball is divided into nine innings. In the top of first half inning, the home team will be on the field of defense, and visitors team will be batting. Only when you are in the offense team can you score.
Now in the picture you see, the pitcher stands on the infield and he was ready to pitch, the pitch can be called by umpire as "ball" or "strike".There is a rubber flat called home plate in front of the catcher's position.It is like an arrow,and the area vertical to the earth which is from the batter's belt to knee coincide with the area just above the home plate,which is call "strike zone".If the pitch goes through the strike zone and batter swings at but misses it,it can be a strike,together with a foul ball.When the pitcher gives three strikes, then the batter is out. After three outs, it is time for offense-defense convertion.But if the pitcher gives four "balls", the batter will get on the base safely, it is called "walk".But it is better for batter himself hit the pitch and get on the base before getting tagged.And next only the batter run along all three bases and back to the home palte can he get one score.And if he was lucky and hit the pitch very far then he will have enough time to run back to homeplate one time, it is called a "home run".Of course, the batter can't put their guard down even if he does hit the pitch off the fair territory, because if the pitch was picked up in the air,the batter would be out.
There is no tie in game baseball, after nine innings, the teams level the score, there will be an extra inning untill the tie is broken.
