——重读王尔德经典《自私的巨人》
这是大学的时候看过的一篇文章，当时读的就是英文。
大概是王尔德的文笔太过于华丽精美，当时英语不怎么样的我读得磕磕绊绊，于是完全没有GET到它的好。
而且竟因此而对王尔德的作品从此敬而远之。我真心觉得有时候自己真的太自以为是。
这毛病，得改。
后来，有一次和朋友去西塘玩，夜宿在临河的一家客栈里。
虽然有开发旅游业，但西塘其实还是很乡下。入夜之后，尽管去酒吧喝了长岛冰茶，回屋的时候，也还觉得很早。
朋友喜欢王尔德，于是无可无不可的，就在电脑上点开了一部电影，《王尔德的情人》。
这个自私的巨人，原来是王尔德哄孩子们睡觉时讲的睡前故事。
莫名其妙的，一下子就GET到这个故事的好，觉得很有必要再去重新细细地读几遍。
也是在那年，买了本王尔德的短篇集，快乐王子，夜莺与玫瑰，自私的巨人，不一样的烟花。。。
一个一个看过去。只觉得这些故事，美不胜收，口角噙香。
正好读福尔摩斯的这帮孩子到了能读懂的水平，又提前完成了阅读计划，就安排了这个短篇给他们。
因为要上课，于是又看了一遍。看完又看了一遍。在揣摩着怎么去和学生交流的时候，竟破天荒地又从新的角度再一次发现它的好。
像是上头了一样，每看一遍，便更深一分地领略到它的美。
最重要的一点，之前完全没有注意到的一点，是作者字里行间对孩子们的珍惜之意。
以前看这个故事，重点一直在巨人身上。因为他自私，春天再不肯光顾他的花园。真到有一天，有孩子从竖起的高墙的一个洞里爬进来，所有的树都齐齐绽出花来，小鸟也重新开始歌唱。巨人意识到自己的错误，从此改掉自己的毛病，把围墙推倒，让孩子们自在的玩耍。
所以从前一直觉得，这个故事，就是在教育人们，做人不能太自私。所谓“赠人玫瑰，手有余香。”
但这次读，才发现孩子们的重要。这些孩子，明明就是天使。
春天不来，树木不开花，鸟儿不歌唱，花儿也不生长，全都是因为花园里没有孩子。
The birds did not care to sing in it as there were no children, and the trees forgot to blossom. Once a beautiful flower put its head out from the grass, but when it saw the noticeboard it was so sorry for the children that it slipped back into the ground again, and went off to sleep.
后来，孩子们进来了，春天也便跟着来了。
In every trees were so glad to have the children back again that they had covered themselves with blossoms, and were waving their arms gently above the children's heads. The birds were flying about and twittering with delight, and the flowers were looking up through the green grass and laughing.
很多年以后，巨人变得非常非常地老的时候，他坐在扶手椅上，看着他美丽的花园，及在花园里嬉戏的孩子们，他说：“我有很多漂亮的花，但孩子们才是所有花朵中最美丽的。”
Years went over, and the Giant grew very old and feeble. He could not play about any more, so he sat in a huge armchair, and watched the children at their games, and admired his garden. "I have many beautiful flowers," he said, "but the children are the most beautiful flowers of all."
原来这篇文章里，还有对孩子们的满满的爱。
