You take a deep breath and gather your wits. The first puzzle seems simple enough - there are three switches on the wall, and each switch corresponds to a different lightbulb in the room. However, only one of the switches controls the correct lightbulb that will unlock the door. The other two switches do nothing.
You are allowed to flip each switch only once. How can you determine which switch controls the correct lightbulb?

You come up with a plan. First, you flip the second switch to the "up" position, then you wait a few minutes. You then flip the second switch back to the "down" position, and immediately flip the third switch to the "up" position. Finally, you enter the room and check which lightbulb is warm.
If the warm lightbulb is the one controlled by the first switch, you know that the correct switch is the third one. If the warm lightbulb is the one controlled by the second switch, you know that it is the first switch. And if the warm lightbulb is the one controlled by the third switch, you know that it is the second switch.
With a sense of satisfaction, you flip the correct switch and hear a satisfying click as the door unlocks. You open the door and proceed to the next chapter of the adventure.
