I had a letter/ˈlet.ər/ from my sister yesterday. She lives in Nigeria /naɪˈdʒɪə.ri.ə/ . In her letter, she said that she would come to England /ˈɪŋ.ɡlənd/ next year. If she comes, she will get a surprise /səˈpraɪz/ . We are now living in a beautiful new house in the country. Work /wɜːk/ on it had begun before my sister left. The house was completed five months ago. In my letter, I told her that she could stay with us. The house has many large rooms and there is a lovely garden. It is a very modern /ˈmɒd.ən/house, so it looks strange to some people. It must be the only modern house in the district /ˈdɪs.trɪkt/.

I entered /ˈen.tər/ the hotel /həʊˈtel/ manager's office and sat down. I had just lost ￡50 /ˈfɪf.ti/and I felt very upset.' I left the money in my room,' I said, 'and it's not there now.' The manager was sympathetic /ˌsɪm.pəˈθet.ɪk/, but he could do nothing. 'Everyone's losing money these days,' he said. He started to complain/kəmˈpleɪn/ about this wicked /ˈwɪk.ɪd/world /wɜːld/but was interrupted by a knock /nɒk/ at the door /dɔːr/ . A girl came in and put an envelope/ˈen.və.ləʊp/ on his desk. It contained ￡5o. 'I found this outside this gentleman /ˈdʒen.təl.mən/ 's room' she said. 'Well,' I said to the manager, 'there is still some honesty in this world!’

发音方法
现在来看看我们应该如何正确的发出/aʊ/这个音。
1）学习该音发音方法请先学习/ɑː/和/ʊ/这两个单元音。
2）嘴巴放松张大，嘴唇向两侧分开。舌身放平，舌尖轻抵下齿，发/ɑː/。
3）然后嘴巴收圆合拢。舌尖离开下齿，舌身后缩，舌后部身软颚抬起，发音慢慢滑向[ʊ]。
注意：/aʊ/是个"开合双元音"，发音时口形由大变为小。音量由强到弱，由长到短，由清晰到含糊。

发音方法

注意：/əʊ/是个"开合双元音"，发音时口型由略微呈圆形较大到收圆缩小，音量由强到弱，该音是字母"o"的读音。
