Personally, I agree with the old saying, “Practice makes perfect.” Knowing that I am not an intelligent girl, I have acknowledged and followed this truth throughout my student career. It seems that it has always worked well. However, while preparing for IELTS language test, I find myself get stuck in writing and cannot move forward even a step further. Looking back, what I have done by now is only keep reciting model essays and useful sentences, trying to write with a professional style. But somehow, this all just failed to help me gain substantive progress in organizing a logical structure and using reasonable arguments and examples. As a result, I still look blankly in front of the various essay topics.
It is time to make some changes to my learning strategy.Working hard itself does make sense, but it is far from enough. Instead, I realize it is vital to work smart until I can step by step grasp the principles how to write essays productively. Because only when I know well how my enemy looks like can I get more capability to defeat it.
Work smart, work hard and with a bit of luck, serendipity will play its part.Work smart does not mean that I try to shirk and start avoiding hard work because the reality is there is actually no substitute for hard work. Work smart means work hard in the right direction. It is not about how hard I work, but about how much I can get as an outcome.
Work Hard VS Work SmartPS: I have dreamed a lot of people and things in the past recently and I do not know what this means to me. Maybe I am kind of homesick, it is fine. What I want to achieve is I can go back proudly with success. Tempo!
PS: It is bloody cold after the autumn rain. Anyway, the situation may be a little bit better than getting caught in the floods in Queensland. In order to keep myself warm, I will make full use of my leisure time to take exercises. Also, many thanks to the delicious and nutritious cuisine offered by dear Jenny and Ling!
