Hello 大家好～ 在上一次知识点小结中我们含情脉脉地认识了“other”作形容词性代词的用法。
在进入今天的知识点之前，小编来帮大家复习一下。another + 名词单数 表示 “同类中的任意另外一个”。
other + 名词复数，表示“同类中的任意另外n个”。
the other + 名词单/复数，表示“某一个指定范围内的剩余的所有的”。
正如上一级提到的那样，代词既有形容词性质的，也有名词性质的。今天我们要来grapple with (解决)的就是名词性质的。
请大家把目光投到下面这段文字里：
There are three people in this world who consider Jack's eccentricity (奇怪) as a gift while others keep him at a distance (远离，保持距离).
Two of the three are Jack's parents. The other is his best friend-- Jane. Since Jack's parents work in traveling business, they always need to move from one place to another.
Even so (即便如此), Jane still remains in close contact with Jack. Whenever kids in a new town pick on(欺负) Jack, Jane writes letters and texts to support him.
Besides (除了) Jack, Jane herself has some other friends. Some of them adore Jane for her close relationship with Jack. The others are jealous.
However, Jane keeps telling everyone that you shouldn't judge a person just because he is different. Jack has autism(自闭症), but he's also a fantastic painter.
如果说，我们是借助爱情的力量学习“other”作形容词代词的用法的话，这一期就是借助了亲情和友情：Jack患有自闭症，但他的父母和好朋友对他不离不弃。
言归正传，我们再把注意力放到“other”系列代词上。
other 本身可以做形容词性的代词，可是他不可以单独做名词性的代词。与它相反，the others 和 others 不能做形容词性代词，但他们可以作名词性代词。
others 指普遍意义上的 同类当中的其他，本身是一个复数。与the others 不同的是，others 不能代表 所有剩余的其他，而the others 可以。
例如在文中第一段，Jack 的身边有三个人将他的奇怪看作天赋，而别人却将他据而远之。
这里的别人只是大意上的其他人，并不真的是全世界上除了这三个人以外的所有人。
the other 与 the others 意义相近，但是the other 是单数。
最后，another 也可以做名词性代词，它也依然作单数用。除了以上文字里的from one place to another, 还有一个经常出现的表达：in one way or another (以这种方式或另一种方式)。
