Henry Smith taught science at the City School. One day, he went to a bookstore and bought some books. Most of them were expensive. He left them in his Car in a quiet street. Then he went and bought some other things at other shops. At 6 o’clock he came back to the car. One window was open and the books were gone. Henry drove back to his home in Lake Street.
亨利·史密斯在城市学校教科学。一天，他去书店买了一些书，大多数都很贵。他把书放在停靠在安静街道上的车里，然后他去其他商店买些东西。6点他回到车上，一扇车窗开着，书不见了。亨利开车回了他在湖街的家。
That night he wrote a letter to a newspaper. The next day he went to the police station.

On Friday people read an advertisement in the newspaper.

Henry stayed at home on Saturday. His first visitor came at 8 o’clock.
周六亨利呆在家里。8点他的第一位客人来了。
Henry took him to the kitchen. At half past nine another man arrived. He had a bag under his arm.
亨利把他带到厨房。9点半又有一个人来了，他腋下夹着一个袋子。
“Mr Smith?” the man asked.
“史密斯先生？”那人问。
“That’s right,” Henry said, “Can I help you?”
“我是，”亨利说，“需要帮忙吗？”
“I have some good books. You buy books, don’t you?”
“我有一些好书。你要买书，对吗？”
“Yes, bring them in. I’ll have a look at them.”
“是的，拿过来看看。”
Soon the books were on the dining-table.
很快，书放在了餐桌上。
“Come in now, ” Henry called out, “And bring the list.”
“现在进来，”亨利喊道，“把清单带过来。”
A policeman came into the dining-room. He read the titles on the books and those on the list in his hand. They were the same.
一名警察走进餐厅。他看了下这些书名和他手里的清单，它们是一样的。
“Come with me, Sir,” the policeman said to the man.
“跟我来，先生，”警察对那人说。
