第一章 Section 1
道可道，非常道。名可名，非常名。无，名天地之始；有，名万物之母。故常无欲，以观其妙；常有欲，以观其徼。此两者，同出而异名，同谓之玄，玄之又玄，众妙之门。
The Dao that can be told is not the eternal Dao.
The Heart that can be named is not the eternal Heart.
Not-being is the beginning of heaven and earth;
Being is the mother of all things.
Therefore when one is desireless,
He sees the secret of the Dao;
When one desires,
He only sees the forms and differences of all things.
These two states
Spring from the same source but are different in name.
They may together be called Mystery.
Mystery within mystery,
The gate to all secrets.
